Who is an Incident Commander as mentioned in this project?

An Incident Commander (IC) is the person who is responsible for managing and coordinating the response to an emergency or crisis situation. In this study, the IC is a hospital administrator who managed the changes to policies, protocols, and operations during critical capacity changes causing surge events during different phases of the pandemic.

What do we mean by ‘decisions’ in this project?

Decisions refer to the choices made by healthcare professionals about the best action to take in a particular situation. These decisions can involve various choices, including closing entrances, screening protocols, opening and closing wards, and staff resource allocation in various departments.

Why should I participate in this project?

This project will help researchers understand what decisions were made and help research into hospital operational challenges during future pandemics. In addition, participants will be compensated for their time. Also, participants will be given the opportunity to get access to research reports, presentations, and other results that are developed as part of the work. This study will be beneficial to the healthcare sector and society to better prepare and respond in the event of a future pandemic events.

What will I get if I partake in this project?

You will get a $50 virtual visa card after participating in a one-hour interview. More compensation is available for participants interested in the second phase of the project (detailed look at a period of time of operations).  Future reporting resources.
